Urbanity

Concrete walls, graffiti abcess
Twenty four hour on-line access

High rise flats, open air preacher
High decibel megaphone screecher
Jesus saves, Beckham scores
Missionary work by `Open Doors'

Attitude, street-wise urchin
Don't go in for no soul searchin’

Empty squat, most appealing
Injecting junkie hits the ceiling

Late for church, clutching bibles
Stepping over undesirables

At the wharf, the low tide reveals
Another corpse covered in weals
On the phone, Samaritan listens
On the gun the sunlight glistens

Corner spot, a girl solicits
High heels and skirt that barely fits

Gloomy bar, nervous glances
A deal concludes despite the chances
Squad car waits, is cover blown?
The guilty parties are well known

At the church, they exchange the peace
As the sex shop renews its lease

Power talk extolling creed
Yet oblivious to all this need
